The Arabic-speaking target group in Germany has been growing disproportionately high for more than 7 years. A very high proportion is accounted for the number of people from Syria and Iraq. While ten years ago there were still 81,000 Syrians and 122,000 Iraqis living in Germany, as of December 31, 2021 there were already over 1 million Syrians and 362,000 Iraqis. This corresponds to an increase of about 1200% for the Syrians and 200% for the Iraqis. Overall, the number of people from the Arab region (excluding North Africa and Afghanistan) has increased by 416% from about 287,000 people in 2014 to around 1.48 million on December 31, 2021.
Many people are still fleeing here, especially from Syria and Iraq, so that we assume that the numbers will continue to rise.
